Joyce Sander

Joyce Mae Sander, 86 of Commerce, Missouri died April 27, 2016 at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri. She was born March 6, 1930 in Chaffee to Elmer A. and Mima Lee Harmon Poorman. She married Ralph Garland Sander on October 18, 1951 in Benton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1997.

Joyce retired from teaching at Cape Central High School, later becoming postmaster at the Commerce post office. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Commerce where she played the piano for many years.

Survivors include nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Arthur Poorman and a sister, Mary Ann Young.

There will be a celebration of life visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

With her caring heart, her wishes were honored by donating her body to the Washington University School of Medicine.
