Loyd “Buddy” Whorton, 66, of Chaffee, Missouri passed away, May 23, 2016 at his family home.
He was born October 30, 1949 in Matthews, Missouri to James and Merlene Wyatt Whorton.
Buddy worked as a residential construction worker and was also an over the road truck driver for over 20 years. He was of the Baptist Faith. Buddy was a member of the Chaffee VFW Post 3127.
Loyd served in the Army from April 1969 – April 1971. He fought for his country in the Vietnam War where he earned many accolades and accommodations.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelley (Marshall) McTigue of Sikeston, MO; Carrie Miller of Harrisonville, MO; two grandsons, Carson & Collin Miller; one granddaughter, Brynna Wiese; three brothers, Roger Whorton of Benton, MO; James Whorton of Oran, MO; Mardi Whorton of Cape Girardeau, MO; six sisters, Sue Glenn of Chaffee, MO; Peggy Taylor of Morley, MO; Marvelene Taylor of Morley, MO; Margaret Yarbrough of Hartman, Arkansas; Loretta Gadberry of Morley, MO; Teresa Whorton of Mason City, Iowa; three nieces, seven nephews, five great nieces, and twelve great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin Whorton
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Morehouse, MO with the Pastor Randy Conn officiating.
Missouri Honors will provide of full Military Honors at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
