Charles Markland, Sr.

Charles Edward Markland, Sr., 79 of Scott City died Monday, June 6, 2016 at his home. He was born June 12, 1936 in Dexter, Missouri to James Marion and Ella Lavetta Lane Markland. He married Charlene Moore on April 17, 1959 in Scott City. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2014.

He was a conductor for Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Scott City and was a veteran of the U.S Air Force.

Charles is survived by two sons, Chuck (Becky) Markland of Scott City and Chris (Kim) Markland of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Cutright of Scott City; a brother, Allen “Sonny” (Karen) Markland of Scott City; a sister, Barbara Jean Smith of Sikeston, Missouri; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Curtis Markland on June 15, 1985, two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service on Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday at the chapel with Rev. Randy Morse officiating.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military honors.
