George Green

December 24, 1935 - July 19, 2016

George Veon Green, age 80 of Advance, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 24, 1935 in Chaffee, Missouri to the late Earl and Pearl McKnight Green. He married Minnie Schiwitz on June 30, 1961 and she survives of the home.

George was a retired mechanic for Genesis Transportation in Cape Girardeau. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the Army from October 1, 1958 to September 29, 1960. He was a member of the Chaffee Masonic Lodge #615. George was with the Advance volunteer fire department for 25 years and served as Fire Chief for 20 years. He also served as a police officer for Advance, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife Minnie, one son Russell (Tina) Green of Trinity, Texas; one daughter Tina (Robert) Macklem of Cape Girardeau; four grandsons; five great-grandchildren

He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Friends may call at 2:00 pm until time of service, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, MO.

Masonic service will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday at the chapel, with the Chaffee Masonic Lodge in charge of the service.
