Paul Zeigler, 89, of Benton, MO passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at his home. He was born January 12, 1927 at Kelso, MO the son of George and Helen Hamm Ziegler. He married Aileene Jeannette Cook on September 16, 1950 at Benton. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2009.
Paul was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in Okinawa for 4 years. He worked 38 years for the Scott County Highway Department. He was a member of; American Legion Post 369 in Benton, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, Benton Senior Citizens, former member of the Benton Chamber of Commerce. He served two terms on the Benton City Council. He coached Little League baseball for many years and later coached women’s fast pitch softball, taking a team to the World Championship.
He is survived by; a son, Alan (Donna) Zeigler of Benton; a daughter, Libby (Darrell) Klipfel of New Hamburg; four grandchildren, Ben (Lauren) Klipfel, Josh Klipfel, Angela (Justin Overton) Baker and Michael (Ashley) Zeigler; three great grandchildren, Conner Baker Avery Zeigler and Ella Klipfel.
Paul was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and 5 sisters.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Denis Church in Benton. Parish Prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. by the Rev. Normand Varone. Interment will follow with Full Military Honors in St. Denis Cemetery.
