Billie Highfill Dempsey, 73 of Jefferson City, Missouri died August 7, 2016 at his home. He was born April 6, 1943 in Hornersville, Missouri to Highfill and Margaret Kinsall Dempsey. He first married Alice Schmid on October 5, 1967. He later married Willie Mae Phillips Moore on July 8, 1983. Willie preceded him in death on August 12, 2008.

He was an Engineer for Union Pacific Railroad and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.   He was a member of Eagles Club, Elks Club, United Transportation Union and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

He is survived by a son, Billy (Kris) Dempsey of Highland, Illinois; step son, Rick (Joe Ann) Moore of Dalhart, Texas; a stepdaughter, Bobbie Jean (the late Wesley) Gray of Scott City; girlfriend, June Peters of Jefferson City, Missouri; three sisters, Gwen (Mike) Riggs of Kennett, Missouri, Barb (John) Hutchison of Caruthersville, Missouri and Linda (Larry ) Shown of Springfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Friday at the chapel with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial donations may be given to the family.
