Gladys Eifert

Gladys Mae Eifert, age 93 of Chaffee, Missouri passed away on August 6, 2016 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was born April 14, 1923 in Albion, Illinois to the late Lawrence and Lena Stennett Day. She was the second of 12 children. Gladys graduated from high school in Ridgeway, Illinois in 1941. During World War II, she worked as a clerk-typist at the Evansville, Indiana shipyard. She married Paul Eifert, Jr. on September 22, 1945 in Morganfield, Kentucky.

Gladys was a life member of Cape Girardeau DAV and VFW Auxiliary post 3127 in Chaffee, Missouri where she was president for 17 years. She was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Scott City, Missouri.

She is survived by her children Ronald (Phyllis) Eifert of Chaffee; Alice (Steve) Schultz of Eads, Tennessee; Diana (Robert) Felker of Jackson; eleven grandchildren, Rebecca Bekkenutte of Manchester, England; Rachel Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana; John Weinrich of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Ron Eifert of Sikeston, Missouri; Tina Berghoff of Chaffee, Missouri; Craig Pennington of Kelso, Missouri; Ryan Pennington of Chaffee, Missouri; Kyle Schultz of Roscoe, Illinois; Alissa Fowler of Arlington, Tennessee; Curtis Felker of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Shannon Young of Boulder, Colorado; 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, two daughters Barbara Weinrich and Anita Pennington, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call after 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, with Pastor Marty Hasz officiating. Burial will be at Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery, Scott City, Missouri.

In Lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to American Diabetes Association.
