Verdell Hooe

Verdell Hooe, age 99 of Oran passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, MO.

She was born August 16, 1917 in Hartman, Arkansas to the late Ben and Leora Pyron Phillips. She married William Edward Hooe on June 5, 1943 and he preceded her in death on November 4, 1987.

Verdell was a home maker. She was a Charter member of the Hooe Baptist Church in Oran. She loved to play the piano at church. She taught adult women’s Sunday school class for many years.

Survivors include a son Dennis E. (Sherry) Hooe of Cape Girardeau; a daughter Linda Kay (Leonard) Glastetter of Oran; four grandchildren Brent Glastetter of Mooresville, North Carolina; James Hooe of Cape Girardeau; Corey Hooe of Warrenton, MO; Matthew Williams of Sullivan, MO; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother Wayne Phillips of Oran.

Friends may call after 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday at Hooe Baptist Church in Oran with Rev. Kenneth Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Garden near Morley, MO.
