John Glastetter

John Zeno Glastetter, 87, of Scott City, passed away, Friday December 30, 2016 at his home.

He was born Sept. 3, 1929 in Kelso, Missouri, the son of Paul Joseph and Anna Helen Scherer Glastetter. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Vandeven on January 17, 1953.

John was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Loved putting puzzles together, framing and sharing them with family and friends. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Drury Company and then did service work for local funeral homes.

He is survived by; his wife, Dorothy Glastetter; two sons, Sam (Tina) Glastetter of Scott City and Jim (Laurie) Glastetter of Benton; two daughters, Diane Glastetter of Salem, Mo. and Mary (Donald) Baker of Scott City; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, Elizabeth, Jamie, Sammie, Dawn and Brandon; two great grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy; a brother, Sylvester Glastetter of Kelso; three sisters, Coletta Neff of Waterloo, Ill., Helen Vandeven of Leopold and Bertha Seyer of Dutchtown.

He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter, Michael and Carol Glastetter; two brothers William and Louis Glastetter; three sisters, Delphine Backfisch, Aurelia Muster and Rita Kluesner.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, Monday from 4 -8:00 p.m. Parish Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m and from 8:00 - 9:30 am on Tuesday at the chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Joe Weidenbenner, Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church. Burial With military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

The family requests donations to the Kidney Foundation and Special Olympics.
