Harold G. Smith, formerly of rural Sikeston passed away March 15, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born October 15, 1927, the son of the late James T. and Wilamina Caroline (Mina C.) Lohear Smith.
Mr. Smith, a 32nd degree Mason was a retired self-employed farmer and had also been employed by Duckett Truck Sales and Agricultural Statistics service. He had been a member of the Scott County Sheriff’s Posse and was a former member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Smith is survived by two nephews, James T. “Butch” Wyman of Benton, Kentucky and Landon Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a niece, Jane Wyman Conner of Memphis, Tennessee and the love of his life, Rosalie Bollinger of Benton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James T. Smith, Jr. and Buddy Frank Smith; two sisters, Mary Susan Wyman and Lorrine Burgess.
Visitation is planned for noon until the time of service on Sunday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday at the chapel with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating.
Burial will follow at the family plot in the Old Morley Cemetery in Morley, Missouri with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Butch Wyman, Casey Johnson, Nathan Holley, Kevin Bollinger, Kyle Bollinger and Cole Bollinger.
