William "Bill" Birkman Jr.

William “Bill” Birkman Jr., age 91, of Delta, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Chaffee Nursing Center.

He was born on August 4, 1925 in Whitewater, Missouri to the late William and Ida L. Snider Birkman. He married Margaret M. Kinder on August 17, 1944 at Paragould, Arkansas and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2004.

Junior was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy of Delta. He was also a member of Delta Senior Citizens Club. Junior was a Seaman 1st Class in the United States Navy during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Birkman of Advance; Timothy (Jamie) Birkman of Chaffee; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley A. Givens; six sisters, and one brother.

Friends may call after 4:00 pm on Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel with Rev. Daniel Baggett officiating, assisted by Rev. Danny Freeland. Burial will be at Barks Chapel Cemetery near Crump with full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Delta Church of God of Prophecy or Barks Chapel Cemetery Fund.
