Walter Sparks

Walter Preston Sparks, 76 of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri formerly of Scott City died Friday, April 7, 2017 at his home. He was born September 13, 1940 in Pennsville, New Jersey to Albert Edward and Elizabeth Alberta Vausch Sparks. He married Joy Fisher on May 1, 1964.

He was a truck driver for J.B. Hunt. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by three sons, Anthony (Taryn) Sparks of Scott City and Troy Sparks both of Scott City and Jason (Lori) Sparks of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Spenser, Dylan, Matthew, Elizabeth, Jason Jr., Brett and Blayde; two brothers, Warren Sparks and Wayne Sparks both of Lakeworth, Florida; four sisters, Alberta Wilson, Aggie Sparks and Deloris Geary all of Pennsville and Shirley Clark of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert Sparks; a grandchild, Blade and a great grandchild, Eden.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service on Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at the chapel with Rev. Kevin Ropp officiating.

Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City with full military honors.
