Belva Ruth

Belva Welch Ruth, 68 of Scott City died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at her home. She was born in Doniphan, Missouri on February 19, 1949 the daughter of J.R. and Lessie Bennett Welch. After her mother’s death, she was raised by her oldest sister in Zalma, Missouri. She and Allen Ruth were married on July 2, 1976 in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2008.

Ms. Ruth worked for JC Penny for a total of 13 years, ending her career in 2000. She was a member of Connection Point Church in Jackson.

Survivors include a son & daughter, John (Lisa) Ruth of Columbus, Ohio, and Cindy (Mike) Brown of Scott City; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike & Betty Ruth of Scott City; five grandchildren, Brianna, Hallie & Ryan Ruth of Columbus, Ohio and Braden & Cody Brown of Scott City; four sisters and two brothers, Pat Hessling of Sikeston, Sylvia Jackson of Advance, Pearly Smith of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Mavis Lee of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Bill Welch of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and James Welch of Richardson, Texas; numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of service on Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am at the chapel with Rev. Joey Ruth officiating.

Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
