Nadine Boyd Holder , 93, of Scott City, MO died peacefully on Sunday morning, June 4 , 2017 at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield, MO. Lovingly considered the “Family Christmas Angel”, she was born on December 25, 1923 to Walter and Margaret Boyd in Mullenville, Kansas. In 1942 she graduated from Butterfield High School in Butterfield, MO.
Just before graduating High School, Nadine married the love of her life, Otto Emil Holder on March 22, 1942 and in May of that year Otto was deployed to serve and defend his country during World War II.
Following the war the couple moved to Michigan where they lived for 32 wonderful years, raising their family of 7 children. In 1978 they moved to Scott City, MO to be closer to family and raise to their youngest daughters in a small-town community. During that time that Nadine worked for St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau . After retiring she continued her life’s work volunteering at the Illmo Nutrition Center, delivering and serving Meals on Wheels, volunteering in the community and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Marsher Perner, and sons Michael “Mick” and Benny.
She is survived by her daughters Emily Chateauvert, Janine “Jan” R osenberg, Theresa “Terry” Treadway and Michelle “Shelly” Hester. Nadine had 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City MO on Tuesday June 6, with Visitation form 11am – 1pm. The funeral will be held at 1pm with Pastor James Woeltje officiating. Burial will be at Lightner’s Cemetery in Scott City. In Lieu of flowers, d onations may be made to Illmo United Methodist Church of Scott City, MO.
Benny Edmund Holder , 72, of Scott City, MO died September 8 , 2016 at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield, MO, following a long illness. First born son of Nadine and Otto, Benny was born on April 19, 1944. In 1962 he graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Michigan.
Benny was a master gardener. He was employed at Franks Nursery for 10 years and later moved to Arizona where he further developed his gardening skills and discovered the beauty of the desert. In 1979 he moved to Scott City to be closer to family. During that time Benny joined the Mormon Church of Cape Girardeau and was responsible for running the Audio Visual systems at the Church. His passion for gardening continued throughout his life. His customers loved his work, entrusting him to build and design beautiful gardens for their homes.
Benny was a kind and gentle soul. He loved all of God’s creatures, the great outdoors , and tinkering with technology.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday, June 6 at 1pm at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City MO with Pastor James Woeltje officiating.
