Raymond George Martin, 77, of Scott City died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 29, 1939, in Kelso, Missouri, to Clarence and Effie Meyers Martin. He married Martha “Jeannie” Aurjean Jackson on March 20, 1970. She preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 2012. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Scott City, Knights of Columbus Council 6420 and 4th Degree Assembly 2283 of Scott City, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau, past commander of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City and the Marine Corps League. He is survived by his best friend, “Tiny,” his Great Dane; a daughter, Synthia (Lee) Gramm of Whitewater; two stepdaughters, Cece Olson of Scott City and Mimi (David) Gomes of San Diego, California; four stepsons, Clark (Debbie) Sullivan of Nashville, Tennessee; Mark (Cherie) Sullivan of Olathe, Kansas; Charlie (Becky) Sullivan of Jackson and Billy Sullivan of Cape Girardeau; a brother, David Martin of Topeka, Washington; a sister, Florence Niswonger of Scott City; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus service. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at the church with the Rev. Joe Weidenbenner as celebrant.
