Charles Bauer

Charles Harvey Bauer, 81 of Benton, Missouri died Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home. He was born January 22, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Wilbert and Louise Schellhammer Bauer. He married Penelope Johnson in 1964. She preceded him in death in 1975.

He was a salesman for Taurus Bauer & Associates and G.W. Bauer & Associates. He was the 2nd pick in the 1954 Major League Baseball draft by the Chicago White Sox. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by a son, Chuck (Thelma) Bauer of Benton; a daughter, Louise (Daniel) Suarez of Arlington Heights, Illinois; a brother, William (Dolores) Bauer of Boerne, Texas; a sister-in-law, Peggy Bauer of Naples, Florida; six grandchildren and a great grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, George Bauer.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Sunday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel at 100 N. Winchester, Benton, Missouri.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 am Monday at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at 10180 Gravois Rd., St. Louis, Missouri, 63123 with Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating.
