Ray Dowd 85, of Chaffee, Missouri passed away at the Monticello House in Jackson, Missouri, on Monday July 31, 2017.

He was born on March 18, 1932 in Hayti, Missouri to the late Sydney Lee Dowd Sr. and Sarah Beatrice Rafferty Dowd. Ray married the late Linda Rose Dowd on October 29, 1960 and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2015.

Ray worked as a Conductor for Frisco Railroad Co. and later Burlington Northern Railroad, in Chaffee, Missouri. He retired in 1993. He was member of the UTU union and a member of the Chaffee Elks #1810. He also served in the Air Force from 1951 – 1954.

Survivors include his son Ed (Dawn) Dowd of Charleston, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Lexi and Austin Dowd both of Charleston, South Carolina; one sister in-law Ella Dowd of Chaffee, Missouri, and a niece Gayle (Jack) Dragoni of Chaffee, Missouri.

Ray was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 4th at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.  An Elks service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chaffee Historical Society.
