Gordon Atchison

Gordon Atchison, 89 of Chaffee passed away Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at his home in Chaffee.  He was born in Paragould, Arkansas to Harley and Louella Atchison on October 24th, 1927.

Gordon served in the United States Army following WWII in post occupation Germany as an Artillery Man. Following his service he earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Arkansas State University.

During his career in Education he served as a Teacher, Administrator and Special Education Director. He was affectionately known as “Mr. A”. Throughout his career he touched many lives and was active in promoting the Special Olympics. After retirement he enjoyed antique picking, collecting, and selling. He was an avid dancer and enjoyed attending dances as often as possible. He was also a self-professed “Arkansas Shade Tree Mechanic”

Gordon is survived by his Daughter, Kelly Kinder of Chaffee, his two Sons, Clint Atchison of Jackson and Stephen Atchison of Sikeston, Missouri. He is also survived by five Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

A Remembrance Ceremony will be held at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee Missouri, on Friday the 1st of September from 6pm until 8pm.
