Viola Mary Trankler

Voila Mary Trankler, 95, of New Hamburg, peacefully went to meet our heavenly

father on her 95th birthday, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Lutheran Home, Cape Girardeau.

She was born November 22, 1922 to the late Frank and Agnes Wiedefeld

Glueck of Kelso. Viola first married Marcus Blattel on June 5th, 1947. He preceded her in death in March (day), 1971. She later married Bill Trankler who also preceded her in death February 17, 1992.

Viola was a member of St Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg,

St Ann’s Sodality. Past member of the homemakers club and senior citizens.

Viola worked many years for Florsheim Shoe Co in Chaffee. She loved to cook, embroider and put quilt tops together for the church, harvest pecans, raise a large garden. Viola was a very passionate Euchre player. Everyone who knew Viola considered her to be thoughtful and kind. She will forever be missed by family, friends, and neighbors.

Survivors include one son, Bobby Blattel of New Hamburg; a daughter Janet

(Brad) Verhines of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Spencer (Leticia) Verhines, Jeremy (Amelia) Verhines, Heather (Steve) Verhines; and seven great-grandchildren, Cristian Ramirez, Lailany Verhines, Madison Verhines, Jeremiah Verhines, Marissa (Aaron) Niedzwiecki, Parker Fisher, and Hailey Fisher.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, and Clarence Glueck.

Visitation will be 4:00 pm with rosary at 7:00 pm, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, 10:00 am at St Lawrence with Reverend Michael Casteel officiating with burial in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Fisher, Parker Fisher, Thomas Glueck, John Blattel, Marvin Glueck, and George Trankler.
