Jon Paul “JP” Harrell passed away on January 1, 2018 at his home in Scott City, MO. He was born on January 28, 1982 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Cindi Davidson and John Harrell.
JP attended school in Jackson, MO and worked for many years as a groundskeeper at Cape Girardeau Country Club.
JP was a loving and dedicated father who enjoyed teaching his children about nature, music, and art. His favorite times with his children were spent cooking and baking homemade pizzas, crepes, cinnamon rolls and cooking supper together. He enjoyed drawing, playing his bass guitar, and listening to his favorite bands; The Beatles, Primus, Buckethead, and Led Zeppelin. JP also loved the outdoors and listening to his Papa Sonny’s vast knowledge of nature.
He is survived by his father, John (Tonya) Harrell of Chaffee; his mother, Cindi (Rick) Brashear; a son, Jude Harrell of Scott City; daughter Mae Belle Harrell of Scott City and their sister Jada Martin of Jackson, Missouri; five brothers, Allen (Becky) Collier of Scott City, Kim (Kelly) Rizvi of Rockford, Illinois, Seth (Patty) Harrell of Jackson, Eric Brashear of Cape Girardeau and Andy Burke of Chaffee; five sisters, Lindsay Harrell, Marissa Harrell, and Nikkie White of Chaffee, Brandi (Nate Comer) Brashear of Cape Girardeau, and Sara (Kenny) Reeves of Melbourne, Florida; his grandmother, Judy Brashear of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and nieces and nephews, Alivia, Ty, Bennett, and Charlotte Collier, Makenzie and Cooper Rizvi, Anthony Corirossi, Asa and Mary Claire Harrell, and Mina McKee and Kayla and Kenny Reeves.
JP was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Leland and Loretta Harrell of Chaffee; his Maternal Grandfather R.C. “Sonny” Davidson; his Aunts, Patty Harrell Griesemer and Amy Davidson; his Uncle Bruce Harrell and his niece and nephew, Lexi and Deyton White.
He was an incredibly caring, honest, and loyal person who put everyone’s thoughts and needs before his own. His children, nieces, and nephews adored him and always looked forward to their adventures with him. From making messes in the kitchen to him getting them up before sunrise to look for seashells on the beach.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday at the chapel with Seth Harrell officiating.
Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery in Chaffee.
