Shirley Sanford

Shirley Elaine Sanford, 83 of Benton died January 8, 2018 at her home. She was born August 28, 1934 in Concord Township, Iroquois County, Illinois to Robert Thomas and Viola Thelma Perkins Fry. She married Rufus Roy Sanford Jr. on March 26, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2012.

She is survived by six sons, Roger (Mona) Sanford of Jackson, David Sanford, Jerry Sanford, Ronald (Krista) Sanford and Adam (Debbie) Sanford of Cape Girardeau and Danny Sanford of Benton; six daughters, Anita (Lynn) Sides and Margaret (Rodney) Seabaugh of Jackson, Carol (Richard) Coomer of Shawneetown, Mary (Ron) Mansker of Cape Girardeau, Lisa Cox and Theresa Sanford of Benton; 23 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She was also preceded death by two sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday at the chapel with Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating.

Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
