Lourine King

Lourine King passed away Monday, March 12 at the age of 91 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Mrs. King was born September 26, 1926 in St. Louis. Survivors include her six children, Cynthia R. Of Cape Girardeau, Marie (John) Covilli of St. Charles, Farron (Theresa) of Kelso, Paula (Mark) Castleman of Cape Girardeau, Jack (Maria) of Universal City, Texas, and Martin of Pocahontas.

Surviving grandchildren include Alisha (Seth) Walter, Lauren Castleman, Alex King, Adam King, John A.Covilli, Brendon Covilli, and Hunter King. She was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Scott City. Community involvement includes PTO (president 1976-77), chairperson for Cub Scouts Pack 220, treasurer of the Bicentennial Celebration in Scott City, Red Cross flood relief volunteer, chairman of the Cystic Fibrosis Campaign (1975-76). Nominated for Scott City’s Woman of the Year in 1977. A highlight of her employment history was the time spent as a Hertz Rental Car Agent at the Cape Regional Airport.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday by Father Joseph Weidenbenner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Scott City.
