Gerald E. Schlitt

He was born on Nov. 6, 1943 in Cape Girardeau to the late Mose and Germaine Welter Schlitt. He married Bernadette DeBrock on April 30, 1966 and she survives of the home.

Gerald was a self-employed farmer. He retired from construction with Columbia Construction Company in Cape Girardeau. He was a member St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. Gerald was a member of the Oran Knights of Columbus Council 4311.

He is survived by his wife Bernadette Schlitt; four daughters, Stephanie (Dennis) Scheeter of Chaffee; Tina (Darren) LeGrand of St. Peters, Missouri; Sherri (Roger) Wood, and Stacey (Mark) Starnes all of Oran; two brothers Jerome Schlitt of Oran; Alfred (Doris) Schlitt of Gordonville; nine grandchildren, Chelsey (Chris) Hanback of Scott City; Caitlin (Dave) Randolph of Jackson; Courtney (Caleb) Priggel of Kelso; Sarah LeGrand, Cameron LeGrand and Colton LeGrand all of St. Peters; Tiffany (Justin) Wood of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Brittany Wood and Allison (Hunter) Cummins both of Oran; four great-grandchildren, Leyton and Kason Hanback of Scott City, Ellee and Rydge Priggel of Kelso and a great-grandson on the way in May.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexis Cummins.

Friends may call after 4:00 pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel, Chaffee. Parish Prayers will be at 5:00 pm and Rosary at 7:00 pm at the Chapel

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Rev. Randy Tochtorp as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Chaffee.
