Brenda Joyce Eakins

Brenda Joyce Eakins, 73, of Delta, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by her loving family, after a long and exhausting battle with COPD.

She was born on July 23, 1944 in Allenville, Missouri to the late Earl A. and Oma L. Bullinger Eakins.

She graduated from College High in Cape Girardeau, attended SEMO University, where she played in a number of sports. She received a degree in Marketing Management from Metro Business College. She worked for several years at Superior Electric. While working at the factory on Nash Road, she and co-workers devised plans to escape the building and survive if the levee broke during floods.

Brenda was a collector. She inherited this trait form her father. The philosophy is “I’ll keep this; I may be able to use it for something someday.” Brenda never met a stranger. This is one of the reasons she enjoyed going to the Casino. Here she socialized with folks she knew, like Al, Carolyn, Earl, Margaret and Danny, and made new friends such as the ladies from the Hill in St. Louis and the majority of the employees of the Casino.

One of her favorite times of the year was the One Hundred Mile Yard Sale. This gave her the opportunity to meet folks from everywhere. She enjoyed keeping track of where folks came from, just for the sale.

Brenda is survived by her sister, Martha (David) Blumenberg and her children; Timothy (Andrea) Jones and their children, Alexander and Camia Jones; Deborah (Joseph) Lagrand; Jessica (Jeremy) Kinder and their children, Evelyn and Logan Kinder; adopted Sister Janet Bond.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Earl Eakins "her fishing buddy"; her trick pony Scout and her German Shepard, Valiant Lady Ranger.

Friends may call after 11:00 am until time of service on Monday, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday at the Chapel with her Pastor Don Kuehle officiating. Burial will be at Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance, Missouri.

Brenda’s last request was that everyone who smokes to please QUIT!
