Charles W. Vickery Jr.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1930 in Chaffee, to the late Charles William Sr. and Hattie Pearl Parmeley Vickery. He married Virginia Lee Roney on July 2, 1949 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 1994. Charles later met and married Dorothy Scheeter Halbert on March 15, 1995 and she survives of the home.

Charles was a retired Brakeman /Conductor for Frisco Railroad – Burlington Northern in Chaffee for over 42 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee. He was a member of Chaffee Elks Lodge #1810 and the Chaffee Masonic Lodge #615.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Vickery of Chaffee; two sons, Charles L. (Kathy) Vickery of Sikeston; James (Suzie) Vickery of Cape Girardeau; three step-sons, Hal (Linda) Halbert of Wappapello, Missouri; Scott Halbert of Chaffee; Mitch (Jill) Halbert of Cape Girardeau; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Ed Vickery; a sister, Charlene Talley and a step-daughter, Jan Halbert.

Friends may call after 12:00 pm until time of service on Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the Chapel with Rev. Josh Boley officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
