Anita Raye Coomer
September 25, 1947 - August 21, 2018
Anita Raye Coomer, 70, of Whitewater passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Sept. 25, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Henry and Ruby Baker Daust. She married Jackie Coomer on Aug. 17, 1967 and he survives her.
After traveling for 20 years with her husband and family in the military and three tours in Europe, she came back to Southeast Missouri to settle close to family in 1986. She then started her career with Southeast Missouri Hospital where she worked for 23 years in Oncology and Hospice before retiring in 2010. She was a devoted Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Delta, serving on several church committees. She was a current member of the Order of Eastern Star Whitewater #174, where she served many roles. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to sporting events with all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jackie (Jack) Coomer Sr. and four sons, Chuck and Pam Coomer of Doniphan, Missouri; Jeffery Coomer of Dallas, Texas; Jack D. and Penny Coomer of Delta; David “Pooh” and Tanya Coomer of Whitewater; her brother, John and Dottie Daust of Baxley, Georgia; six grandchildren, Brian Coomer, Amanda O’Neill, Jaclyn Childers, Ciara Coomer, Grant Coomer and Brooke Coomer; and eight great-grandkids.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Daust, Jack Daust and Art Daust; and two sisters, Mary Ann Daust and Rosalee Daust.
Friends may call after 4 pm on Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. There will be a Order of Eastern Star service at 7:00 pm, Thursday at the Chapel.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Friday at the Chapel with Rev. Randy Conn and Rev. Rocky Talent officiating. Burial will be 12:00 pm at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Delta and Southeast Missouri Cancer Center.
